Amy Climer of Climer Consulting
Amy Climer is the owner and founder of Climer Consulting, a business that helps teams learn how to be creative, innovative, and amazing together. Amy has been passionate about understanding creativity since high school and in college became very interested in the development of teams. For the last 20 years, she has been merging those two interests and has worked with and helped hundreds of teams become more effective and creative together.
In 2016, Amy finished her PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch University where her research focused on developing the Creative Synergy Scale which measures three elements teams need in order to be creative together. The scale has been helping teams understand how creativity works and most importantly be more creative together. Amy really believes that if we all could tap into our full creative potential we could solve all the problems on the planet!
What led you to decide to start your business?
I wanted a venue for helping teams understand how teams work and how creativity works. There is a lot of bad/inaccurate information out there, especially about creativity, and I wanted to help teams succeed and present them with research-based advice. It's also just in my blood to be self-employed. Nearly everyone in my large family runs their own business so it felt somewhat normal for me. Fortunately, I love it!
What’s your favorite part of running your business?
Working with teams - I love those ah-ha moments that occur during trainings or the great ideas people get for their creative challenges.
What’s the most challenging part of running your business?
All the small behind the scene details like writing proposals and marketing. Fortunately, I just hired a COO and together we are creating systems to streamline processes and make the business more efficient. This means time for bigger, more exciting projects.
Is there anything new or exciting happening with your business now or in the upcoming months?
Yes! In 2016, I created the Creative Synergy Scale as part of my dissertation research. It is available for teams to help them understand their own strengths and weaknesses regarding creativity. I'm excited about the potential this tool has to change how teams think about being creative at work

Climer Cards are a small deck of cards designed to facilitate conversations with teams, families, and students. The hand-drawn images inspire imaginative metaphors that lead to new ideas and deeper conversations. There are dozens, even hundreds, of uses. Each pack includes directions and a free ebook is available with more ideas. One thing I love about Climer Cards is that customers continually come up with new ideas for how to use them. The possibilities are endless and the impact can be significant!
